Human beings have repeated development with enormous domination and  

control about environment.

There is no doubt that human beings are superior in every respect.

Thinking back to the past history, many species on the earth were

exterminated because for some reason the friendly environment which

helped their birth changed into hostile attitude.

While mankind, the first species that had the ability of operating on

surroundings, have got out of innumerable change of nature to some  degree  

But human has regarded the nature as the target of challenge

and conquest, that is to say, as the subject of testing mankind's ability in

the process of transforming and possessing the nature. Ultimately if we

are asked a question when the mankind will disappear, we may answer

"the day will not be far distant."

No matter how peculiar men may be, we must deeply realize that men are

also the product of appropriate environment and the part of huge nature.

Can men lead a life with understanding and respect about the world of nature. Can men maintain a life peacefully and fairly for the long survival of mankind. What decide this future of human is the mutual relation

between human and human, human and circumstances.

“아홉 용머리"는 예술을 통하여 정신적 유산과 환경 적 유산을 미래에 남기려는 하나의 시도이며 자극이다. 인류는 환경에 대해 엄청난 지배력과 통제력을 가지고 발전을 거듭해 왔다. 물론 여러 가지 점에서 인류가 특수하다는 것은 의심할 여지가 없다. 과거의 역사를 돌아보면, 동물들을 그들의 탄생을 도왔던 환경이 어떤 이유에서인지 적대적으로 변했기 때문에 멸종했다. 지구 환경을 조작할 수 있는 능력을 가진 최초의 동물인 인류는 자연 환경의 무수한 변천으로부터 어느 정도 독립하여 벗어났다.

하지만 자연을 변형하고 소유하는 과정에서 자연은 인간 능력을 시험하는 대상, 도전과 정복의 대상이 되어왔다. 결국에는 인류가 언제 사라질 것이냐는 질문에 우리는 "그다지 멀지 않은 장래"라는 대답을 하게 될 지도 모른다. 인간이 아무리 특수한 동물이라 하더라도 인간 또는 무수한 적정 환경들의 산물이며, 자연의 보다 거대한 균형 속의 일부라는 깊이 있는 자각을 해야 할 것이다. 인간이 자연세계에 대해 이해와 깊은 존경심을 가지고 살아갈 것인가. 인류의 장기적 생존을 위해 평화롭고 공정하게 살아갈 것 인가. 이러한 인류의 미래를 결정짓는 것은 인간들의 상호관계와, 인간과 주변 세계화의 관계이다.

 "아홉 용머리"는 인간의 무한한 상상력, 경험과 생각을 공유할 수 있는 예술을 통해서 제한된 "나"를 공동체적 존재와 통합시키고, 인간과 주변 세계사이의 평형관계를 다시 생각해 보고자 한다.

"아홉 용머리"는 국제적 종합 예술의 성격을 갖는다. 이것은 호모 사피엔스 사피엔스 라는 단일한 종을 가지고 있는 인류가 발전시켜 온 광범위하고 다양한 방식의 문화적 차이를 비교적 차원이 아니라 문화 그 자체로 해석하고 이해하려는 것이다. 그렇게 함으로써 인간의 마음속 깊이 존재하는 협력에 대한 충동, 공동체 의식을 공유하려는 것이다.

"아홉 용머리"는 거의 인간만큼이나 오래된 예술을 통해서 개인과 자연, 주변세계와의 관계를 재인식하려는 것이다. 정신적 공동체 의식은 자연에 대한 우리의 생각을 새롭게 할 것이며, 예술의 치유 적 기능을 통하여 건강한 환경을 미래의 유산으로 남길 수 있기를 바라는 것이다.
